In 2004 the Springfield Armory M1A SOCOM 16 7.62 was designed to pack .30-caliber horsepower into a package typically reserved for much lesser guns. A ghost ring rear sight combined with a tritium-enhanced front sight moves the gun fast even in dim light. The SOCOM 16 combines toughness with maneuverability, featuring a custom-designed 16.25″ carbon steel barrel tipped with a proprietary muzzle brake that is small but efficient.

The Springfield Armory M1A™ SOCOM 16 in .308 Winchester takes the M1A™ platform and shrinks it down to a remarkably compact and portable size, proving that sometimes less really is more. Sporting a shortened gas system and short 16.25″ barrel, the Springfield Armory M1A SOCOM 16 features a forward mounted “scout” mount rail for an optic.
